1. Use sulfuric acid in a beaker

   Add copper carbonate one spatula at a time

   Keep adding until copper carbonate is in excess or no more fizzing (effervescence) happens

   Filter the mixture using filter paper and funnel

   Remove the excess copper carbonate by filtering

   Pour the filtered solution into an evaporating basin or dish

   Heat the solution using a Bunsen burner

   Leave to crystallize or allow water to evaporate/boil off

   Decant the remaining solution

   Pat dry the crystals with filter paper

   Wear safety goggles or spectacles for protection
