  1. FSH from the pituitary makes the egg mature in the ovary.

    Oestrogen from the ovary stops FSH being made and makes more LH.

    LH from the pituitary causes ovulation (egg release).

    Progesterone from the ovary stops FSH and LH being made.

    Oestrogen and progesterone keep the uterus lining thick.
