   Have high melting points

   2.Group 1 elements:

   Have low melting points

   Have low densities

   Are soft (can be cut easily)

   Chemical Properties:

   React slowly (low reactivity) with water or oxygen

   Are used as catalysts in reactions

   Form ions with different charges

   Make coloured compounds

   2.Group 1 elements:

   Are very reactive and react quickly with water and non-metals

   Are not used as catalysts

   Form white or colourless compounds

   Only form +1 ions.
