When oil is burned, the products of combustion may be released into the atmosphere.
Explain the environmental effects of releasing these products of combustion into the atmosphere.

Burning fossil fuels produces carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas. This causes global warming because it increases surface temperatures, leading to climate change. As a result, polar ice caps melt, sea levels rise, and there is more flooding and extreme weather. This can lead to a reduction in biodiversity, and even droughts and famine.
Sulfur dioxide is also produced, which causes acid rain. Acid rain can damage buildings and statues, harm trees, and kill aquatic animals. It can also cause respiratory problems in humans.
Carbon/soot particles are produced, which cause global dimming and also lead to breathing problems.
Carbon monoxide is also released and it is toxic.
