• Potassium ions are needed for healthy root growth.

• Phosphate ions are needed for healthy flowers and fruits.

The gardener makes his own garden compost.

The percentage (%) of minerals in his compost was compared with two

  1. I would choose fertiliser S because it has the most nitrogen, which is good for healthy growth. It also has the highest potassium content, which helps roots grow strong, and it’s cheaper than fertiliser T. Fertiliser S also has more minerals than compost. However, it has less phosphate than fertiliser T (but more than compost), so flowers and fruits might be less of a priority for the gardener.
