Q1.
The Big Bang theory gives an explanation for the origin of the Universe.
Explain how evidence supports the ideas that
• the Universe is expanding
• the Universe began at a single point

There is strong evidence that the universe is expanding. One piece of evidence is red shift. This is when light from distant galaxies is shifted to the red end of the electromagnetic spectrum. It means the wavelength is getting longer, which shows that the galaxies are moving away from us. Almost all galaxies show red shift, which suggests the universe is expanding in all directions. This effect is explained by the Doppler effect.
There is also evidence that the universe had a beginning. Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMBR) is microwave radiation left over from just after the Big Bang. It has been detected all over the sky. It’s believed to be the result of the universe cooling down after it first began. Also, by looking at how the speed at which galaxies are moving away increases with distance, scientists can work backwards to a time when everything was in one place.
