  1. The Earth has different layers with varying properties.
    As depth increases, the density of the Earth increases.
    The speed of both P waves and S waves increases as the density increases with depth.
    The core has the highest density and the highest speed for P waves.
    S waves do not travel through the core, which shows that the outer core is liquid.
    Pressure is highest in the core and increases with depth, which causes the density to increase.
    There is a large change in density between the mantle and the outer core.
