  1. To find the critical angle:

    A ray of light is shone into the glass block.

    The ray enters through the curved surface along a radius.

    The angle is changed by moving the ray box until the refracted ray is at 90°, or just disappears (total internal reflection).

    The angle of incidence is measured at this point.

    The measurement is repeated to get a reliable result.
